Atelier in Amsterdam
Looking for dry cleaning in Amsterdam? At Small Couture, your dry cleaner in Amsterdam East, you can have a suit, coat, dress or duvet cleaned with care for the fabric. From a precious garment that needs extra attention to your everyday outfits that could use a refresh. English spoken.
The difference from a regular dry cleaner: we are also tailors. A loose hem, a broken zip or a missing button is taken care of at the same time, so your clothes come back clean and whole. Dry cleaning and repairs at one address, in one go.
We clean complete suits, jackets on their own and trousers, shirts, dresses and coats. Duvets are welcome too, single and double.
We look at each garment to decide which cleaning method suits it. Wool, silk and viscose need a different treatment from cotton. If there is a care label you cannot read, we will help you out.
Wedding dresses we clean with extra care. After the wedding there are often stains in the hem from grass, wine and make-up that you only notice later. The sooner the dress is cleaned, the better the chance that everything comes out. Evening gowns can be cleaned too.
Because we are also tailors, we can fix loose beads, a torn underskirt or a fastening straight away. If you want to store the dress afterwards, you get it back in a garment bag that protects the fabric.
Winter coats, long coats and down jackets can all be cleaned here. With down we make sure the filling is light and fluffy again after cleaning, rather than sitting in clumps.
Designer coats in wool, cashmere or with leather details are treated with extra care. Not sure whether a coat can be cleaned? Send a photo of the care label via WhatsApp.
Red wine, grease, make-up, coffee: most stains come out if you act quickly. When you drop the garment off, tell us what the stain is and how long it has been there, so we can choose the right treatment.
We are honest: not every stain disappears completely. An old grease stain in silk or a bleach mark in coloured fabric can remain visible. We tell you that beforehand, so you can decide for yourself. Try not to rub a stain at home, as that pushes it deeper into the fabric.
At most dry cleaners you get your coat back clean, but with the same broken zip. Not here. Replacing a zip in a coat, repairing a hem or sewing on a button we do in the same round as the cleaning.
That saves you an extra address and an extra week of waiting. Tell us what you want done when you drop it off, or send a photo via WhatsApp, and you hear in the studio in advance what it will be.
You will find us at Wagenaarstraat 209 in the Dapperbuurt, a 4 minute walk from the Dapperstraat stop (tram 1 and 3, bus 37 and 41). From the Oosterparkbuurt, Indische Buurt, Transvaalbuurt, Watergraafsmeer and Oostpoort you are here in a few minutes.
Coming from further away? Tram 3 from De Pijp or tram 14 from Dam Square is the easiest route. More travel tips are on our pages for Amsterdam Noord (North), Amsterdam Zuid (South) and Amsterdam West.
Bring your clothes in, or send a photo via WhatsApp first and we will take a look. Cleaning usually takes 3 to 5 working days. Need a suit sooner? A rush job within 48 hours is usually possible.
You get your clothes back on a hanger and in a garment bag. Take a photo before you bring it in, so you can see exactly how good it looks when it comes back clean.
Cleaning clothes properly takes knowledge of fabrics and the right products. A suit, a wool coat or a silk dress cannot go in the washing machine, and treating a stain the wrong way often makes it worse. At a dry cleaner the colour, shape and fabric are preserved. That way your favourite pieces last years longer.
That depends on the garment: a shirt or trousers is something different from a suit, a coat or a dress, and a wedding dress needs its own approach. You hear the price in the studio in advance, with no surprises. Not sure? Send a photo via WhatsApp and we will take a look.
We are dry cleaner and tailor in one. A broken zip, a loose hem or a missing button is repaired in the same round as the cleaning. So you get your clothes back not just clean, but whole. And because we handle every garment ourselves, we notice when something needs extra attention.
No, quite the opposite when it is done well. Cleaning at a dry cleaner is gentler on wool, silk and suits than washing at home. Good care extends the life of your clothes, and that is the most sustainable choice. That is why we would rather clean and repair than see you replace something. Want to know which method we use for your garment? Just ask.
Usually 3 to 5 working days. A shirt or trousers is often ready sooner, a wedding dress or down jacket takes a little longer. Need something sooner? A rush job within 48 hours is usually possible. Let us know when you drop it off and we will schedule it in.
Yes, and preferably as soon as possible. Stains from grass, wine and make-up in the hem become harder to remove after a few weeks. Loose beads or a torn underskirt are repaired at the same time. You get the dress back in a garment bag, ready to store.

And the cherry on the cake he is a really sweet person Today I went to this shop and I needed to make some adjustments for my pants. Although there were other clients as well, yet he patiently measured what was needed and it was ready very quick. The price was a little bit higher than usual tailors, but if you are looking for a good quality, this is the right place to go. Very friendly staff & super fast! Services
