Atelier in Amsterdam
Looking for a tailor, clothing repair, dry cleaning or a cobbler in Amsterdam Zuid (South)? Small Couture is not in Zuid, but at Wagenaarstraat 209 in Amsterdam East. From De Pijp you are here in about 12 minutes on tram 3, or 10 minutes by bike. English spoken.
Tailor Pierre Hassan trained as a fashion designer and spent five years in the atelier of Elie Saab. He repairs and alters clothing, leather and bags, and arranges dry cleaning and shoe repair at the same address. For anyone in Zuid who is used to quality and wants a tailor who really takes the time.
Send a photo via WhatsApp first and we will take a look and tell you quickly what is possible, before you catch the tram. Take a photo before you bring it in, so you can see exactly how good it looks when it comes back repaired.
Clothing repair in Amsterdam Zuid exists, but often with long waiting times. From De Pijp, the Rivierenbuurt or Oud-Zuid you are with us in Oost within a quarter of an hour, for careful work with honest advice.
Repairing a seam, closing a hole or knee, a new zip in trousers or jeans, a coat pocket or lining repaired, buttons replaced: it is daily work in the workshop.
Not sure whether something can still be saved? Send a photo via WhatsApp. Pierre takes a look and tells you honestly whether a repair makes sense.
A tailor in Amsterdam Zuid is mostly found around Beethovenstraat and Cornelis Schuytstraat. If you are looking for someone who really brings a suit to your measurements, takes in a dress without it showing or adjusts a garment of a loved one so you can wear it yourself, the trip to Oost is worth it.
Pierre spent five years at Elie Saab, where precision is the norm. You notice it in the small work: hemming trousers, taking in a dress, taking in a shirt, taking in a jacket. And in the big work: made to measure for a wedding, a gala or a suit for the Zuidas that finally fits.
Bring the garment with you and put it on in the shop. Pierre pins it while you stand there, so you know for sure it will fall exactly right.
A dry cleaner in Amsterdam Zuid is never far away. What you rarely find there is a dry cleaner that also repairs and alters your clothes. At Small Couture you bring your suit for dry cleaning and have the trousers hemmed or a button replaced in the same visit. One address, one trip, one collection.
We clean shirts, trousers, jackets, complete suits, coats and long coats, dresses and evening gowns. We clean wedding dresses too.
Dry cleaning usually takes 3 to 5 working days. Need it sooner, a suit for a presentation on the Zuidas for example? A rush job within 48 hours is usually possible.
There are plenty of cobblers in Amsterdam Zuid, but if you are coming to Oost for your clothes anyway, bring your shoes along. Heels, soles and zips in boots are taken care of at the same address, so you do not have to make another trip.
We replace women's heel tips and men's heels, as well as half soles for women's shoes and rubber or leather soles for men's shoes. A new zip in a boot is possible too.
Good shoes deserve a second and third life. Have them repaired before the sole has worn right through, then the job stays small and the result looks good.
From De Pijp it is a straight line. Tram 3 leaves from the Ceintuurbaan and stops at the Dapperstraat stop, a 4 minute walk from the shop. Allow about 12 minutes. From the Rivierenbuurt or the Stadionbuurt you catch the same tram a little further along.
If you work on the Zuidas, take metro 52 to Weesperplein or Wibautstraat and change to tram 3 or tram 1 towards Dapperstraat. That is about 25 minutes. From Buitenveldert, metro 52 is also the fastest route.
By bike you are with us in 10 minutes from De Pijp, via the Ceintuurbaan and the Wibautstraat. Coming by car? Street parking is paid from Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 24:00 and free on Sundays. Q-Park Oostpoort is a 5 minute walk away.
The honest answer: because they can drop everything off here in one go. Clothing repair, alterations, dry cleaning, leather, bags and shoes at one address. If you are coming from Zuid, you do not want a separate trip for every job, and here you do not have to.
The photo in advance saves another trip. You send a photo via WhatsApp, Pierre takes a look and you know whether it is worth it. Only then do you come by, and you hear the price in the workshop, always in advance. If it is urgent, a rush job within 48 hours is usually possible, so you do not have to go back and forth twice.
And then there is the craftsmanship. Pierre spent five years in the atelier of Elie Saab and gives honest advice. Sometimes that is: this is not worth repairing. More often it is: this can look better than you think. That is what people from Zuid, Noord and West come back for.
Most customers from Zuid come from De Pijp, which is almost around the corner with tram 3. Then come the Rivierenbuurt and Oud-Zuid, where people often bring a coat, a suit or a dress that is too beautiful to throw away. From the Stadionbuurt and Buitenveldert come customers who are used to quality and are looking for a tailor who is just as good, but not just as expensive.
From the Zuidas we mainly see suits, shirts and overcoats: shortening, taking in, dry cleaning and a zip that gives up precisely on Monday morning. Combine your visit with the Dappermarkt or a coffee in the Oosterpark, and the trip from Zuid is more of an outing than a chore.
No. Small Couture has one shop, at Wagenaarstraat 209 in Amsterdam East. We have no branch in Zuid. Many customers from De Pijp, Oud-Zuid and the Zuidas do come to us, because here they find a tailor, clothing repair, dry cleaning and a cobbler at one address. Send a photo via WhatsApp in advance, so you know roughly what it costs before you come.
From De Pijp on tram 3 from the Ceintuurbaan to the Dapperstraat stop takes about 12 minutes, then a 4 minute walk. By bike from De Pijp about 10 minutes. From the Zuidas with metro 52 and a change to tram 3 about 25 minutes. From Buitenveldert and the Rivierenbuurt you are somewhere in between.
Yes, and that is exactly why customers from Zuid come to us. Clothes for repair, a suit for dry cleaning, a bag with a broken handle and shoes for new heels can all be dropped off in one visit. You get a price per job and you can usually collect everything at the same time.
No, we do not collect or deliver. What does save a trip: send a photo of the garment via WhatsApp. Pierre takes a look and tells you honestly whether a repair makes sense. That way you only come when it is worth it, and you know where you stand in advance.
Allow 3 to 5 working days for most repairs and dry cleaning. Small jobs such as a button or a seam are sometimes ready sooner. Need something urgently? A rush job within 48 hours is usually possible. Let us know when you drop it off and we will schedule it in.
Street parking in the Dapperbuurt is paid from Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 24:00. On Sundays parking is free. Q-Park Oostpoort is a 5 minute walk away and a good alternative when the streets are full. From De Pijp you are usually quicker by tram 3 or by bike than by car.

What customers say
Amazing, he know how to do am amazing job and he dies everything and more than what you have asked. And the cherry on the cake he is a really sweet person Today I went to this shop and I needed to make some adjustments for my pants. Although there were other clients as well, yet he patiently measured what was needed and it was ready very quick. The price was a little bit higher than usual tailors, but if you are looking for a good quality, this is the right place to go. Very friendly staff & super fast! Services
