Tailor Amsterdam
Looking for a tailor in Amsterdam East? Small Couture is at Wagenaarstraat 209 in the Dapperbuurt, in the corner shop with the sign "Kleding & Leer Reparatie". English spoken. Come here for clothing repair, clothing alterations and made to measure tailoring.
Behind the sewing machine is Pierre Hassan, trained as a fashion designer and pattern cutter. He looks not only at what is broken, but also at how the garment will fit you afterwards.
Live or work in East? Drop by, or send a photo via WhatsApp and we will take a look before you arrive.
A tailor repairs, alters and makes. Repairs include replacing a zip, closing a tear or renewing a lining. Alterations include hemming trousers, taking in a jacket or taking in a dress.
Made to measure is the third craft: a suit, dress or coat made for you from the pattern up. You can read more about that on the page Made to measure clothing Amsterdam. Leather, bags and shoes also come through the workshop, and cleaning is available through our dry cleaning service.
A tailor nearby saves you hauling clothes across town. From the Dapperbuurt and the Oosterparkbuurt it is a few minutes on foot to Wagenaarstraat. From the Indische Buurt and the Transvaalbuurt it is a short bike ride. Watergraafsmeer and Oostpoort are 5 to 10 minutes by bike.
Many customers combine it with the Dappermarkt or some shopping at Oostpoort. Bring in your clothes, do your shopping and collect them a few days later.
Pierre Hassan spent 5 years in the atelier of Elie Saab, where couture gowns are made by hand. He brings that precision to Amsterdam East, whether it is an evening dress or a pair of jeans with a worn out crotch.
As a garment maker in Amsterdam he sees a piece of clothing as a whole: the cut, the fabric, the finish. That is why a repair disappears into the garment and an altered coat fits as if it were made that way.
You can tell a well fitting suit by the shoulders and the waist. We take in jackets, shorten sleeves while keeping the buttonholes and bring trousers to the right length. Wedding suits and suits for a special day are fitted with extra care, with a fitting beforehand.
Dresses for a wedding, gala or party can be taken in, shortened or given a new fastening. For wedding dresses there is a separate page: Wedding dress and evening gown alterations.
The Dapperstraat stop (tram 1 and 3, bus 37 and 41) is a 4 minute walk away, Muiderpoort station 8 minutes. From the city centre, tram 14 from Dam Square gets you here in about 15 minutes, by bike in 12 minutes.
From Amsterdam Noord (North), bus 37 goes directly to Dapperstraat in about 25 minutes. From Zuid (South), tram 3 from De Pijp takes 12 minutes, and from West, tram 1 or 19 takes around 25 minutes. Parking is available on the street (free on Sundays) or at Q-Park Oostpoort, a 5 minute walk. More travel tips are on our pages for Amsterdam Noord, Amsterdam Zuid and Amsterdam West.

That depends on the job. Every repair and alteration is a custom job: a seam is something different from a hem, a zip or taking in a jacket. Made to measure work is discussed in person. You hear the price in the workshop before we start, with no surprises, or you send a photo via WhatsApp and we take a look first.

Amazing, he know how to do am amazing job and he dies everything and more than what you have asked. And the cherry on the cake he is a really sweet person Today I went to this shop and I needed to make some adjustments for my pants. Although there were other clients as well, yet he patiently measured what was needed and it was ready very quick. The price was a little bit higher than usual tailors, but if you are looking for a good quality, this is the right place to go. Very friendly staff & super fast! Services
